Dear Readers,
This article is the first in a series that will attempt to summarize the state of Human Knowledge with respect to autism. This series will travel through history, will examine different paradigms, many perspectives, various protocols, and recovery claims from around the world. This review will end with … I’m just going to put it out there … Recovery Potential.
There, I said it: The ‘r’ word… Recovery. Not management. Not improvement.
It has been almost ten years since I began reviewing everything autism. When I put my professional life on hold to raise my children, it was important to keep my feet wet and skills sharp by continuing to learn. I chose a topic about which I knew very little.
I chose autism.
My initial question was: “What causes autism?” I moved to topics beyond causation when I realized that interacting causes are already known. Known by Human Knowledge, yet unknown and unacknowledged by the industrial professional class and the masses. Many of these causes are suspended in small glass vials, drawn up into syringes, then injected into small arms and thighs by unsuspecting, trusting health care professionals in the presence of an equally unsuspecting, trusting parent. Some of the causes come in orangish-brown plastic bottles with print-out labels containing names, numbers and instructions. The contents of these bottles are said to cure infections and other ailments. Other causes are said to relieve pain and fever and can be purchased at your leisure at a local pharmacy, aisle 8, down from the chewing gum. Other causes relate to a mother and child’s flora—the families of bacteria originating either in the birth canal or the stainless steel table in the operating room. A large portion of a baby’s microbiome is thought to be seeded at birth, setting the stage for an ability (or inability) to digest food and deal effectively with the coming onslaught of modern contamination unknown to previous human generations.
Some parents figured out autism causes years ago. Not because they were medical or scientific experts, although some have quite a list of credentials. Not because they were better parents than the rest of us, although some have demonstrated their willingness to fly to the moon and back for their child. And not because they were supported. In the autism arena, failed marriages are common and cause-acknowledgment seeking parents have been gaslighted for decades by medical professionals, research scientists, insurance companies, behavioral therapists, school administrators, teachers, friends and family members, and us—the public—people without children who presented with a new brain injury or chronic illness hours after leaving the parking lot of their pediatrician’s office. These parents figured it out, because it happened right in front of them, and the chronology of events was unmistakable and could not be ignored.
Testimonials about children with autism are unique, but many share similar beginnings. Stories of regression typically begin with a healthy, functioning child, predictably meeting milestones described in government charts. Then, seconds, minutes, hours or days from a visit to a pediatrician’s office, their child either has an inconsolable screaming fit, a fever, a seizure, or a combination along with other new and sometimes life-threatening symptoms. This symptom presentation is so different, parents become frantic. The event can lead to an ER visit. Their child does not recover from the post-pediatrician event. Instead, the child they knew—over hours or days or weeks—seems to disappear, right in front of their eyes. These parents have never claimed that autism began or was triggered by a trip to the dentist, grocery store, swimming pool, or playground. It always seems to happen after visiting a pediatrician, often for the purpose of a Well Child Visit.
I realize that the eyes of my readership are probably open to issues of toxicity and nutrition. But there is much, much more. The censorship and knowledge suppression we are witnessing during this Covid Era is not new. Eerily similar processes were implemented around the topic of autism decades ago, and industrial efforts to control —in this case— many false narratives—are ongoing:
Environmental root causes? Ignored.
Relevant research findings? Censored, with physician researchers like Andrew Wakefield, MD and Paul Thomas, M.D., persecuted in the media and in the courts.
Groups & associations? As they formed, these were guided down divisive lines promoting close-minded, single narratives, allowing no overlap with other organizations or perspectives. We see now, this leads to deep divisions in society, and individuals form propaganda-induced cultural beliefs. Self-censorship sets in among those with actual Knowledge in order to not offend those with claimed Knowledge—those who could—ironically— benefit from the actual Knowledge.
Knowledge about recoveries? Almost entirely suppressed. Those who discuss a desire to recover their children are persecuted by those who—loudly—claim there is nothing to ‘fix.’
Government- or foundation-supported research about recovery, especially where there are hundreds of claims for a particular protocol? None. Plus, the information online is very difficult to find. I have trouble finding websites a second time, even if I remember relevant names and key words. I recently spent over three hours attempting to locate an interview — I knew the name of the person doing the interview, and I correctly remembered the platform on which it had appeared. How is this happening?
It is time to acknowledge that this process — Autism Knowledge Suppression — is one that we see playing out over and over again in the wider industrial context. It needs to be said: this suppression of Knowledge and recovery opportunities is purposeful and systematic. Time to blow the lid off.
Let us prepare to open our hearts in ways we have not yet imagined.
