Spellbound: 'Dissonance' (Part 1)
Hello friends.
I just finished a 3-Part Series called Spellbound: Spelling-To-Communicate. The essays are my response to the incredible autobiography Underestimated: An Autism Miracle by J.B. Handley and Jamison Handley. If you have never heard of Spelling To Communicate, please take the time to learn about this paradigm-busting program that teaches nonspeaking individuals or people who cannot speak ‘reliably’ (i.e., people with autism, apraxia and other conditions that impact fine motor abilities) to communicate. My 3-Part response is neither a summary nor a book review. It is more of an essay about my experience with the book and the conclusions I was forced to draw by the reality so perfectly presented by the authors.
Part 1 is available on my Recovery Guild site at Unite.live, a new censorship-free, multi-media platform.
